4-5-1 Soccer Formation
This soccer formation is characterized by having 4 defenders in the back, packing the midfield with 5 players and having only one striker up top.
The 4 5 1 soccer formation can actually make up a few different formations. The 4 5 1 can be a 4 1 4 1 soccer formation which tends to be more defensive. The next formation variation of the 4-5-1 is the 4-4-1-1. The 4-4-1-1 tends to be more attacking in nature. Finally, the 4-2-3-1 formation is more of a balanced version.
This like other formations has its strengths and weaknesses. As you choose the formation that is right for your team make sure you take into account the different types of the 4-5-1 formations and who you have on your team.
So you can better understand the formation I've talked about a couple of the strengths and weaknesses of the 4-5-1 soccer formation.
Here
is a list of some of the strengths and weaknesses to keep in mind as
well as some roles relating to different positions in this
formation.
Midfielders
The midfielders out wide need to have the ability to beat the opposing players off the dribble.
5 midfielders in the middle of the field and attack allow for the offense to provide good width.
Forwards
The forwards need to be able to hold up the ball and play as more players arrive in the attack.
With four defenders in the back the team should be able to defend out to the sidelines pretty well
