3-4-3 Soccer Formation

This formation is another of the offensive formations used in soccer. If you are an offensive minded coach this could the right formation for you.

3 4 3 Set up

The 3 4 3 consists of 3 defenders, 4 midfielders and 3 forwards.

Making the Right Decision

With all the different formations out there its important to understand which is right for your team. Your coaching philosophy and the players you have all go into that decision. Because the 3 4 3 is an offensive formation it is important that as a coach you understand the different parts involved to make the right decision. For example, do you only have one good striker on the team.  What about your defenders and midfielders?  Do you have the right team to do the 3 4 3?

Backline

The backline in the  3 4 3 is built to be very good against attacks that come up the middle.

Midfield

Occasionally a midfielder will be required to help the defenders out if a defensive player gets pulled out.

Forwards

This formation has 3 forwards and provides many options to get the ball forward.

Defending in the 3 4 3 Soccer Formation

A 3-4-3 is a formation that allows a team to place defensive pressure high up the field and pen opposition teams in their own half. To execute a 3-4-3 system defensively a team must possess defenders who are not easily beaten off the dribble in the forward and midfield positions.
